ICEMF Workshop Strengthens India’s Climate and Energy Modelling Ecosystem
A one-day workshop on the "Formation of New Task Forces under the India Climate and Energy Modelling Forum (ICEMF)" was organized in joint collaboration by NITI Aayog, the IKI Interface India and the Climate Diplomacy Action Programme (CDAP) on 29 July 2026 in New Delhi to deliberate on strengthening India's climate and energy modelling ecosystem. The workshop brought together experts from government ministries, research institutions, academia, think tanks, industry, utilities, and international organizations to deliberate on emerging modelling challenges, identify critical research gaps, and define future collaborative research priorities. The deliberations were structured around three thematic sessions focusing on integrated energy-economy modelling, systems perspectives in future energy planning, and next-generation power sector modelling. Through these thematic technical sessions, participants identified key research themes that can guide the work of ICEMF Task Forces in supporting evidence-based policy formulation, long-term energy transition planning, and implementation of India’s climate and development goals.
