The third IKI India Community Exchange convened implementing organizations to discuss website and newsletter updates, funding opportunities, and collaborative synergies. At WSDS 2025, IKI supported a BMUV-led thematic track on SDG implementation, drawing from the GSDR 2024 and featuring inputs from India, Germany, and the Czech Republic. An IKI information booth saw strong interest in funding and publications. The second IKI Thematic Workshop on Adaptation focused on planning, ecosystem-based approaches, and finance, emphasizing sub-national implementation, policy convergence, and traditional knowledge. These engagements reinforced the value of regular exchanges and collaborative action in advancing climate and biodiversity goals in India.

Project Updates

3rd IKI India Community Exchange

The third IKI India Community Exchange brought together participants from various implementing organisations to discuss developments across the network. Key topics included enhancements to the IKI India website and newsletter, open IKI funding opportunities, and upcoming events. Two project presentations showcased work on aquatic ecosystem protection and low-carbon buildings. The session also helped identify synergies between projects on the accounting of climate impacts, laying the ground for collaboration and underscoring the importance of regular exchanges within the IKI community.

IKI at the Word Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS)

At WSDS 2025, the project supported a thematic track led by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) on accelerating SDG implementation and advancing synergies with climate and biodiversity goals. Building on insights from the Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR 2024), the session brought together perspectives from India, Germany, and the Czech Republic, ahead of the upcoming Voluntary National Reviews at the High-Level Political Forum.

Additionally, the project hosted an IKI India information booth, presenting materials on IKI’s global and India-specific work. Participants showed strong interest in funding opportunities, publications, and project activities, leading to valuable exchanges and follow-up enquiries.

2nd IKI India Thematic Workshop on Climate Adaptation

The project also organised its second IKI Thematic Workshop on Adaptation, which convened representatives from government, research institutions, international organisations, and civil society to discuss key challenges and opportunities for advancing climate adaptation in India. The workshop focused on three thematic areas: national adaptation planning and governance, ecosystem- and community-based approaches, and climate finance. Discussions highlighted the need to strengthen sub-national implementation, improve access to adaptation finance, and promote policy convergence across sectors. Participants also explored the role of traditional knowledge, community engagement, and data systems in building more resilient adaptation strategies. The workshop provided valuable insights for shaping future collaboration and supporting India’s efforts to enhance climate resilience at all levels.
