Mitigation of Climate Change
Indo-German Cooperation on Agrivoltaics (IGCA) project commissioned and launched by State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth (BMUKN) together with Mr. Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary (MNRE).
Following project commissioning in December 2025, the project was formally launched on 26 February 2026 in New Delhi by State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUKN) together with Mr. Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The event was hosted at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, together with the representatives from MNRE, International Solar Alliance (ISA), Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Wellfare (MoA&FW), National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), IARI, scientists, farmers and students. An internal exchange network among GIZ projects and implementation partners was established in November 2025 to accelerate knowledge transfer across regions and thematic clusters.
A joint Technical Working Group (TWG) between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) was initiated in January 2026. The TWG institutionalises cross-ministerial coordination on Agrivoltaics and supports the development of regulatory and financial frameworks for dual land-use systems.
The AgriVoltaics World Conference 2026 will be held in New Delhi (21–23.10.26). The conference will be hosted by MNRE and co-organised by the project. The conference will position India as a global frontrunner in Agrivoltaics and facilitate international knowledge exchange.
