Description

Union Environment Minister Shri Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the Aravalli Green Wall Project, aiming to green a 5 km buffer zone around the Aravalli Hill Range across Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Delhi. This initiative seeks to enhance green cover and biodiversity through afforestation, reforestation, and water body restoration, thereby improving soil fertility, water availability, and climate resilience. The project also focuses on agroforestry and pasture development to support local livelihoods. In its initial phase, 75 water bodies will be rejuvenated, starting with five in each district of Haryana's Aravalli landscape. This effort aligns with India's commitment to create an additional 2.5 billion tonnes of carbon sink by 2030.
