Description

The Union government is set to launch a framework to enhance climate-resilient agriculture in 50,000 villages across climatically vulnerable districts. This initiative, part of a national programme, aims to promote drought and pest-resistant crop varieties and implement water conservation and fertilizer management practices. The selected villages will be from 310 districts across 27 states, with significant numbers in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The project will span five years, leveraging existing funding mechanisms and includes plans for a voluntary carbon market for sustainable agriculture practices.
