Promoting Community Conservation Resilience

Completed
01 Mar 2015 to 30 Apr 2019

Description

The aim of the project was to contribute to the implementation of the CBDs 2011-2020 Strategic Plan and Aichi Targets by providing policy advice on effective and appropriate forms of support for community conservation. The project documented and reviewed the findings of bottom-up, participatory assessments in 22 countries of the resilience of community conservation initiatives and the support that should be provided to strengthen these initiatives. The results of the assessment were widely disseminated and fed into the deliberations of the CBD and related international policy processes through an active outreach and advocacy campaign. The outcome is significantly increased and more appropriate legal, political, financial and other forms of support for community conservation initiatives that reflect the recommendations of communities themselves.
